The Triathlon Event takes place on the week-end of 24th/25th May in Dover,
One can enter as individuals or as a team. Depending on numbers, teams will
be allocated, unless you want to enter a team from your unit (6 people).
Kids on the Saturday; adults on the Sunday
This is not an event run by TSUK. We have been invited to join in and to
have an Organ Donation Stall. This event could be called the British
Transplant Triathalon if enough of you join in ---
The Fun Kids Triathlon takes place on 24th May 2008 at the Duke of York's
School, Dover, Kent. The start time is 11am and the event is held
completely within the grounds of the school and is open to boys and girls
from 8 years to 16 years old. There are 5 age groups, and the distances
completed are different for each age group. It involves swimming in a 25m
heated swimming pool, cycling round a closed to traffic, tarmac road and
running on tarmac and grass.
Tristart (8 Yrs) 100m swim/ 1.25Km bike/ 400m run.
9-10 Yrs 150m swim/ 2.5Km bike/ 1200m run.
11-12 Yrs 200m swim/ 5Km bike/ 1600m run.
13-14 Yrs 250m swim/ 6.25Km bike/ 2000m run.
15-16 Yrs 400m swim/ 7.5Km bike/ 2400m run.
Age as end of December 2008.
Parents/Guardian signature is required for under 16's - who MUST accompany
entrant at the event.
Entry costs approx. £10, which includes British Triathlon day membership,
which covers insurance etc. (I will know the exact figure soon).
The Quick Change Triathlon is on 25th May 2008, also at the Duke of York's
School, Dover, Kent.
There are five different age categories from age 17 upwards. It involves a
200m pool swim, 5Km bike and 1Km run, competitors then get back in the pool
and complete another 200m swim, 5Km bike and 1Km run. The organisers are
more than happy for people to do this as a relay team or for the Transplant
Competitors to only do each discipline once if they wish. The entry fee is
approx £18.00, which includes insurance etc. but BTA Members will receive a

team completes together a 300m swim, 7.5Km bike and 2Km run and if the
members want, we can have a transplant team. The entry fee is approx. £14
It may be possible to get some sponsorship to help cover some of the
entrance costs for both events for transplantees.
If this goes ahead, are we allowed to call it the 'British Transplant
Triathlon Championships', as this will help with promotion in the local
press etc? Both events, but particularly the Fun Kids Triathlon usually
attracts a large number of local people and triathletes from around the
country and so could be a great chance to promote the Organ Donor Register.
